new storage and wip

My hubby has been revamping his workshop. After building some new wall cabinetry, he had some leftover pegboard, so he built this storage/display unit for me.

I removed the handle on top, added casters to the bottom and filled one side with some clearance/thrift shop findings that will eventually be used in art or altered jewelry.

Here it is in its new home. Notice Winston and Gandalf there? Ahhh.... love....

And here's what I've added to one of the backgrounds I shared a couple weeks ago. It's my first painting of a person. I just "saw" her in the background and brought her forward. It was weird, and, it was magical. She's not complete, at least I don't think so.... I'm just letting this piece come about as it will. I look at it each day, open for it to to speak to me again... telling me how it wants to emerge...

Great storage piece! Like you, I prefer to have some of those pieces out where I can see them to inspire me and to just look pretty, too! And your lovely lady is coming along just the way she should!

Love that storage piece! I could use something like that in my studio, except it is such a mess I'm afraid it would have no where to roll...LOL!!!
Have fun with the painting--sometimes things will just tell you what they want done. I find that all the time....or maybe it's just the voices in my head... ;-D

I love that you are letting the painting come together with it's own voice. I have several pieces of wood that I have done that way. In fact, I have had this piece of drift wood that I have had for about 4 years now, and it just spoke to me a week ago. I was getting ready to pitch it, when I had moved it to the discard pile and had seen it upside down for the first time. It looks like an elephant standing on it's hind legs with it's hands in the air. I cannot wait to work on it. I look forward to seeing what else your painting does.

Every time I look at your blog, it makes me want to pull out my supplies and start creating! Thank you for the inspiration and for continuously reminding us of the importance of recognizing - and/or creating - BEAUTY in the everyday.

Fabulous display piece - what a lucky girl you are to have such a practical hubby. I love that it's on castors so you can wheel it around. I want one too!
